Monument Park

Situated on .35 acres in downtown Monroe, Monument Park (formerly Hammock Park) has taken a historical step back into what was once the MONROE sign on the Wayne Street water tank. This sign stood for many years and was famously taken down after being damaged by down-burst storms that came through Monroe in 1993. Since then, many discussions have taken place to replace the sign with no successful or allowable options on the existing water tanks or structures in the community. Monument Park is now home to a replica of that MONROE sign that stood for so many years. This will be a space with benches, lighting, picnic area, and serve as an outdoor venue for Museum events in the future that brings back a bit of nostalgia for Monroe.

As with all parks, we remind our visitors that this park is a daylight park, and is only open from dawn to dusk!!! We ask that all patrons be respectful of these times and to dispose of trash at the nearby trash receptacles to help keep our park and City both clean and beautiful!
