The City of Monroe executive branch of government consists of the Mayor, who is elected, and a full time City Administrator who handles the day-to-day executive operations of the city government. Our legislative branch consists of a City Council of eight elected members.

The City of Monroe is unique in its breadth of services offered.  In addition to the general services of Police, Fire, Streets, Solid Waste, Planning & Code, and Grounds Maintenance, the city manages cemeteries, passive parks, and the Cy Nunnally Memorial Airport.  City of Monroe Utilities offers water, sewer, electricity, natural gas, and the telecommunications services of cable television, internet, fiber internet, and even a utility training academy (GUTA).  We are your full-service city ready to assist citizens and businesses.
