Kent Hobart (Vice President Operations Southern Gas Association) - We’ve been very fortunate to have Tommy Arnold of the Georgia Utility Training Academy teach a Leak Investigation and Grading class for us the last two years as part of our SGA Spring Gas Conference. We gather feedback from class participants after the training and feel strongly the most important question we ask is “Would you recommend this class to a coworker?” The average score from GUTA’s 2016 class was 9.93 on a 10 point scale. The highest of the over 30 workshops we offered during the conference.
Payment must be made 15 days in advance of the class date. Less than 15 days you must call to check for seat availability.
After registering for your class, please make all checks and PO# out to the Georgia Utility Training Academy, GA HWY 83 Monroe GA. 30655
Please reference your name, class and date of the class with your payment. A confirmation email will be sent when payment is received unless other arrangements have been made.
If your organization is a member of GUTA OQ Compliance and Training Services, please select that option on the registration form.
Because of the potential health hazzards resulting from the mishandling of chemicals and other hazardous materials, persons in the workplace should be aware of the proper methods of handling, labeling, storing, transporting, and disposing of toxic chemicals and hazardous materials. After completeing this module you will be able to demonstrate knowledge of the task, communicateing and reacting to potential hazards in the workplace.
The primary hazard from trenching and excavation is employee injury from collapse. Soil Analysis is important in order to determine appropriate sloping, benching, and shoring. Additional hazards include working with heavy machinery; manual handling of materials; working in proximity to traffic; electrical hazards from overhead and underground power lines; and underground utilities like natural gas.
If your company has been assessed a civil penalty for a violation of the Georgia Utility Facility Protection Act with the offer to attend a Commission approved training class in lieu of paying a penalty, you may choose to have your employees attend damage prevention classes presented in English, Spanish or both.
