Keeping Monroe 'Neat' and 'Clean'
In an effort to maintain property aesthetics and increase quality-of-life, the City of Monroe Code Enforcement Office would like to notify everyone that we will begin diligently enforcing the City Ordinances. We will be focusing on safety and improving the overall appearance of the community appearance by working with citizens. This process is attained through the consistent enforcement of building and property maintenance codes.
Code Enforcement procedures have been updated and are as follows:
If you are in the violation of city code, you will be notified by mail. For non-hazardous violations, the first letter sent is mailed as a courtesy notice. It is intended to advise that a violation of a law or municipal codes has been observed. If you receive one of these letters, you may contact the Code Enforcement Office at (770) 207-4674 with any questions you may have.
This letter will also inform you of the date the issue needs to be corrected. If the violation is not corrected by the date given you will receive a citation. The fine will not exceed $1,000. Our goal is to have citizens voluntarily abate violations without taking further enforcement action.
A list of property and building codes can be found on the City’s website at https://goo.gl/eNfD8Q.
Information regarding a United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) program will be made available to our citizens who may need some help and funding resources to comply with our ordinances.
We sincerely appreciate your efforts in partnering with us to keep Monroe clean and safe for all who reside, visit, and pass through Monroe.
Thank you,
City of Monroe Code Enforcement
