Monroe is a town well-known for its beautiful, tree lined streets, shaded parking lots, and forested subdivisions. Trees here are well maintained according to best management practices and the community forest is healthy and diverse. City officials and staff, and the public at large, recognize that healthy trees are vital to a healthy economy, and that the community forest is an integral part of the City’s historic charm and inviting character.

With respect to Governor Kemp’s latest executive order and to our citizens for whom we share a responsibility to protect, the City of Monroe will postpone the fireworks display scheduled for this July 4th. A makeup date in September will be announced later. During this time, we ask that you continue to enjoy yourselves and celebrate our Country, but continue to honor social distancing and other safekeeping protocols in doing so.
In an effort to support downtown businesses during these trying times, the City of Monroe and the Downtown Development Authority have created a Downtown Stabilization Fund to award grants of up to $2,500 for businesses within the DDA boundaries.
